Solar cells, M10 silicon wafers rose 2.5%
Solar panels are becoming increasingly popular as a clean, renewable energy source. Among the key components of a solar panel, the solar cell is arguably the most important, as it is responsible for converting sunlight into electricity. One of the most commonly used solar cell materials is silicon, accounting for 90% of the solar cell market.
Recently, the price of M10 silicon wafers used to produce solar cells increased by 2.5%. This growth is due to increased demand for solar panels and limited supply of silicon wafers. Silicon wafer production is expected to reach 60GW in February, which is still not enough to meet the growing demand of the solar industry.

On February 22, the Silicon Industry Branch announced the latest monocrystalline silicon wafer prices. Prices were steady and slightly higher this week. The average transaction price of M10 monocrystalline silicon wafers (182 mm/150μm) rose to US$0.285/piece, a week-on-week increase of 2.5%; the average transaction price of N-type monocrystalline silicon wafers (182mm/130μm) remained stable at US$0.281/piece, with a week-on-week increase of 2.5%. The average transaction price of G12 monocrystalline silicon wafers (210 mm/150 μm) remained at US$0.402/piece, which was unchanged from the previous week.
This week, the operating rates of the two first-tier companies increased to 80% and 95% respectively. The operating rates of integrated enterprises increased by 75%-100% respectively, and the operating rates of other enterprises increased by 65%-100% respectively.

Despite rising prices, the solar industry remains optimistic about the future of solar panels. Demand for solar panels is expected to continue to grow due to growing awareness of the importance of renewable energy and falling costs of solar panel installation.
The Silicon Industry Branch announced the latest silicon material prices. The transaction price range of n-type silicon materials this week was US$9,743.9-10,147/ton, with an average price of US$9,994.1/ton, which was the same as last month; the transaction price range of single crystal dense materials was US$8,062-8,896/ton, with an average price of US$8,242.7/ton. , remained unchanged month-on-month; the transaction price range of n-type granular silicon was US$8,340-8,757/ton, with an average price of US$8,479/ton, which was unchanged month-on-month.
In February, solar cell production is expected to reach 45GW, a considerable increase from the previous month. Moreover, in March, the solar panel industry is expected to experience a major turning point, with demand for solar panels expected to increase significantly.
