Paris Olympic Solar Village to Become a Shared Community Center
EDF ENR is turning the solar panels installed atop the buildings in the Paris Olympic Solar Village into a community-wide energy sharing platform. The 15 solar power plants will be integrated into a community-sharing network with a total output of 450 kWp, providing up to 20% of the residents' energy needs. This renewable energy network will rely on a combination of electric vehicles and photovoltaic cells to combat peak energy consumption without compromising long-term sustainability.

The Paris Olympic Solar Village was designed to showcase France's dedication to renewable energy solutions, and the new shared infrastructure promises to extend the project's environmental objectives beyond the stadium's walls. The innovative energy systems will provide a range of benefits to the residents of the village and the surrounding communities.
The new community-centered energy model is expected to bring residents together and facilitate a sense of collective responsibility for energy conservation and renewable resources. By pooling the resources of the village, the network will create a self-sustaining ecosystem that can adapt to changes in energy demand and fluctuations in power availability. This new model promotes an environmentally-friendly lifestyle for the residents and serves as a role model for other communities looking to cut energy costs and reduce their carbon footprint.
EDF ENR is already testing the shared energy system within the Olympic Solar Village, and once it is operational, they plan to expand the model to other residential and commercial real estate. EDF ENR sees this concept as having the potential to transform energy consumption in communities across France and beyond.

This sustainable infrastructure will undoubtedly change the way Parisians view energy conservation. The collective self-use of solar power is a monumental step forward in decreasing dependence on traditional energy sources and integrating renewable energy into our daily lives. This shared capacity creates an affordable, yet powerful energy system that provides multiple benefits. By championing the creation of shared solar power solutions, EDF ENR, and the Paris Olympic Solar Village, have become a shining example of the future of sustainable communities.
