The Lowest Price Is RMB 54,000/Ton! Silicon Prices Drop Again

This week, the transaction range for N-type silicon materials was between RMB 65,000-70,000/ton, with an average transaction price of RMB 68,000/ton, down 0.29% compared to the previous week. The transaction range for monocrystalline dense materials was between RMB 57,000-62,000/ton, with an average transaction price of RMB 59,500/ton, down 1.16% compared to the previous week. The price of N-type silicon materials remained stable, while the price of P-type silicon materials experienced a slight decline. Furthermore, the price difference between high and low-quality P-type silicon materials is widening, with the price of low-quality P-type materials continuing to reach new lows.

Most companies have completed their orders for December this week, with 3 companies dealing in n-type materials and 6 companies dealing in p-type materials. However, the transaction scale was generally small. Currently, downstream demand for n-type materials is relatively good, with companies frequently urging for orders even at high prices and with long lead times. The supply of n-type silicon materials is relatively tight, and the flow into the market is estimated to be only around 60,000 tons, with prices remaining strong. Meanwhile, the demand for p-type materials downstream is difficult to maintain due to the difficulties in covering production costs. In addition, the unstable quality of new silicon material enterprises during the climbing production process will lead to an even more surplus in p-type materials. In the short term, the price decline of p-type materials will continue to squeeze production costs, with some old production lines facing cost pressures, leading to shutdowns or technical renovations, and new production capacity will be more cautious. It is expected that market demand will enter a downturn in the first quarter of next year, with the continuous decline of prices gradually affecting market supply, and the n-p-type silicon material price difference is expected to continue to widen.

As of this week, there are a total of 17 domestic polysilicon production enterprises in China. However, one of them has stopped production for technical upgrades, which has had a certain impact on production. Due to the recent extreme weather conditions, some enterprises located in Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia have been affected by transportation disruptions, but production has not been impacted yet. According to customs data, in November, the import volume of polysilicon was 3202.5 tons, a decrease of 3.65% compared to the previous month and a year-on-year decrease of 65.94%. Therefore, it is expected that the supply of polysilicon will maintain an increasing trend in December, with n-type polysilicon prices stabilizing while p-type polysilicon prices experiencing a slight decline.
