Solar Power Soars in Shenzhen City's Carbon Peak Implementation Plan
On Oct 7th, the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission and the Shenzhen Municipal Energy Bureau jointly issued a notice on the implementation plan for carbon peaking in Shenzhen, setting a clear target for carbon emissions reduction and renewable energy development. According to the notice, Shenzhen aims to reach carbon peaking befor 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050.

As part of this effort, the notice also emphasized the development of solar photovoltaic (PV) power. In particular, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the cumulative new installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation will reach 1.5 million kilowatts. By 2030, the installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation will reach 2.4 million kilowatts. This shows that Shenzhen is firmly committed to developing clean energy and reducing carbon emissions.
According to industry experts, the 2.4GW of PV capacity is a significant achievement in the development of renewable energy in Shenzhen. With the implementation of the plan, Shenzhen will be able to reduce its reliance on traditional energy sources and accelerate the pace of green development.
In recent years, the Shenzhen government has actively promoted the development of clean energy. The city has taken the lead in developing offshore wind power and is now focusing on photovoltaic power generation. The development of photovoltaic power generation not only contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions, but also promotes technological innovation and economic development.
From the perspective of technological innovation, the development of photovoltaic power generation is one of the most important ways to promote the commercialization of renewable energy. By increasing the scale of production and reducing costs, photovoltaic power generation has become an increasingly competitive energy source. In addition, through the use of advanced technologies such as AI and Internet of Things, the efficiency and stability of photovoltaic power generation can be greatly improved.

From an economic perspective, the development of photovoltaic power generation provides new opportunities for industry development and job creation. The construction of photovoltaic power plants requires a large amount of investment and the participation of many workers, which can stimulate economic growth and increase employment opportunities. At the same time, the operation and maintenance of photovoltaic power plants also require ongoing employment, further promoting economic growth.
In summary, the implementation of the carbon peaking and carbon neutral strategy in Shenzhen is an important milestone in the development of clean energy in China. The promotion of photovoltaic power generation will further contribute to the goals of carbon reduction and sustainable development. As a major economic and technological hub in China, Shenzhen is setting an example for other cities in the country to follow, demonstrating that clean energy development can achieve both environmental and economic benefits.
