4GW! 3 Chinese Companies Signed a Large-Scale Photovoltaic Power Plant Contract In Uzbekistan

China Energy Construction Corporation Limited (CECC) has signed a contract with the Uzbekistan government to invest $2 billion to build a 2GW solar power plant in Kashkadarya, Bukhara and Samarkand regions. This landmark project will be the largest solar power plant in Uzbekistan, providing clean, reliable energy to the local community and creating employment opportunities.

CECC's investment will be split between building the solar power plant and improving the infrastructure supporting it. The investment will also be used to train local workers in the skills required to operate and maintain the facility. CECC has committed to using domestically-manufactured equipment where possible, providing an economic boost to the region.

In addition, a joint venture between Huadian New Energy and Poly Technology will develop a further 2GW of solar power capacity in Jizzakha and Tashkent regions. The two companies bring complementary expertise to the project, with Huadian developing the solar power technology and Poly Technology providing project management expertise.

The investment from CECC and the joint venture between Huadian and Poly Technology is a significant step towards Uzbekistan's goal of generating 25% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. The project will also support the Uzbekistan government's efforts to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, improving the country's energy security and reducing its carbon emissions.

These solar power projects in Uzbekistan demonstrate China's commitment to investing in renewable energy and supporting sustainable development worldwide. The projects also provide an excellent example of how Chinese companies can work collaboratively with host countries to promote economic growth and reduce carbon emissions.
